Meet photographer Katie Beth Lamb
Katie Beth Lamb runs Studio Ivoire in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and has worked professionally as a photographer since 2008. She holds a BFA in Photography from Baylor University and has taught photographers for more than a decade.
Before starting her studio, she documented orphan care and mission work in Africa, China and Europe. Her work includes family and newborn photography, and this course presents the approach she uses to capture natural light.
The light and airy shooting and editing workflow
Katie teaches the decisions behind the look, from what happens in camera through the final edit. The instruction is divided roughly between location, light direction, exposure and posing, and a desk-based Lightroom Classic workflow.
The course centers on four connected parts of a session: choosing locations, reading natural light, directing clients and editing for a consistent gallery. On-location demonstrations show the shooting process, while over-the-shoulder edits show how Katie works through a session in Lightroom Classic.
The materials include references to recommended gear and settings where relevant. The bonus TAP Profiles guide introduces an alternative editing pathway using The Archetype Process; it is a guide rather than a preset pack.
The five-module curriculum
- Module One: Foundations of the Light and Airy Style — Learn to recognize the aesthetic and distinguish it from images with blown-out highlights.
- Module Two: Pre-Session Prep — Follow Katie’s location-scouting process, including what she looks for and avoids, client outfit guidance and ways to build trust for natural expressions.
- Module Three: Camera Settings and Exposure — Explore settings for soft skin tones, exposure, highlight preservation, metering for skin, the RAW look Katie targets and focus methods.
- Module Four: Lighting — Examine harsh and soft light, golden hour, blue hour, cloudy conditions, full sun and open shade. On-location demonstrations also address backgrounds and greens.
- Module Five: Editing — Follow a complete Lightroom Classic edit, including screen and lighting setup, adjusting presets to taste, skin tones, greens, common pitfalls and changes that keep a gallery consistent with a photographer’s brand.
