What the Advanced Certificate covers
The program brings together the academy’s three standalone certificate subjects: Wedding Planning, Wedding Styling, and Wedding Business and Marketing. Students work across the practical, creative and commercial parts of a wedding career rather than studying each in isolation.
The training uses templates, checklists and case studies to put the subject matter into practice. An optional certification project gives students a chance to develop a portfolio piece they can show prospective clients.
Planning, styling and business
The planning material follows a wedding from the first enquiry through to the wedding day. Styling addresses ceremonies and receptions, including colour, mood boards and floral direction.
The business and marketing component turns to package pricing, brand positioning and finding clients. Its guidance is general rather than specific to a particular region.
Who runs the Wedding Academy
Kylie Carlson founded the Wedding Academy, which reports training thousands of wedding professionals over two decades across Europe, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, India, the UAE and Asia.
CEO Jac Bowie acquired the academy in late 2022 and runs it from Australia’s Sunshine Coast. An entrepreneur and events specialist, Bowie also founded Business in Heels and Darling Don’t Panic.
The industry certificate
The Advanced Certificate is private industry training rather than an accredited academic qualification or a licence to practise. The optional project is a way to develop work for a client-facing portfolio, while local licensing and insurance requirements remain separate considerations.
